How do I get involved?
ULI Columbus members have numerous volunteer opportunities! We welcome our members to get involved by attending any of our events or by joining one of our committees. Please contact ULI Columbus to get more information about joining a committee.
ULI Columbus Committees
Management Committee – The Management Committee is responsible for the day-to-day activities ULI Columbus and is responsible for implementing the District Council’s Strategic Plan. The Management Committee is comprised of the District Council leadership and co-chairs of the operating and impact committees. This group meets regularly during the year to provide input and guidance on programs and initiatives. This board is invitation only.
Advisory Board – Composed of ULI Columbus members who actively participate in the activities of the district council. These Board members serve two-year renewable terms of service, commencing with ULI’s fiscal year. Advisory Board members are composed of leading real estate and land use professionals who volunteer their time to further the mission of ULI in Central Ohio. Many of these members are also financial contributors to the district council through the sponsorship program. This board is invitation only.
Governance Committee – The Governance Committee is composed of public and private community leaders. The members have a deep understanding of the mission and priorities of ULI. The committee’s purpose is to recommend the incoming ULI Columbus Chair, provide succession planning advice for other key leadership positions, and guidance to the District Council Strategic Plan. This board is invitation only.
Programs Committee – The Programs Committee plans monthly educational and informational meetings including our flagship monthly breakfast series, trends conferences, and networking events.
Membership Development Committee – Builds networks with community leaders to encourage their participation in ULI as members, sponsors, and volunteers. Manages annual sponsorship campaign and new member outreach in conjunction with ULI Columbus staff.
Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) Committee – Identifies potential TAPs, which are 1.5-day panels that bring together ULI Members to provide guidance on specific development or planning issues. Once a TAP is contracted, the Committee recommends members to serve.
Task Forces – ULI Columbus created three task forces to identify, increase awareness, convene and improve decision-making, regarding urban development issues supporting Central Ohio’s rapid regional growth. The task forces include the following: Managing for Growth, Attainable Housing, and Transportation
ULI Hines Student Competition – Since 2003, the ULI Hines Student Competition has challenged students to collaborate across disciplines and imagine a better built environment. The local committee provides guidance and expertise to graduate students from the Ohio State University as they compete in the national and local competition.
Young Leaders Group (YLG) – The YLG offers members, under 35 years of age in the real estate industry, the opportunity to network with their peers, gain exposure to leading industry professionals, and to grow and enhance their professional education.
Women’s Leadership Initiative – (WLI) strives to promote the advancement of women and increase the number of women who serve in leadership positions in the real estate industry and in ULI. The committee plans the overall direction of WLI and the various events and initiatives. If you are a female member of ULI, you are automatically included in WLI.
