About Building Healthy Columbus:
The Young Leaders Group of the Columbus District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI Columbus), in partnership with Columbus Public Health and the Ohio State University (OSU) Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA), is engaging in Building Healthy Columbus, an initiative focused on human health in the Columbus region.
Recognizing the demographic shifts and pressing health challenges that are taking place globally, the ULI Columbus Young Leaders Group wants to help advance discussions with our region’s real estate community to encourage efforts to build in ways that promote human health in our community. “We now know that developers can be more effective in achieving public health than the doctors in white coats.”—Richard J. Jackson, M.D., Professor and Environmental Health Science chair at the University of California, Los Angeles’s Fielding School of Public Health.
Through the engagement of both public and private sector Young Professionals, we plan to utilize the ongoing work of ULI’s Building Healthy Places initiative. Our team will convene conversations around how the Columbus region can change and develop in ways to promote healthy living, which will in turn add up to a healthier community.
