Awards for Excellence
ULI Columbus was established in 2008 as a district council of the Urban Land Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization with the mission of providing leadership in the responsible use of land and in sustaining thriving communities worldwide.
ULI Columbus is recognized nationally by ULI for playing an increasingly pivotal role in convening private and public partners to stimulate dialogue and share knowledge that will have a positive impact on Central Ohio’s growth and development for years to come. For example, the ULI Columbus program insight2050 has gained wide regional recognition and fostered extensive discussions on how more compact, walkable, and mixed-use forms of development will better respond to the region’s emerging growth while enhancing economic competitiveness and providing an array of cost, health, and energy benefits.
Increasingly, the Columbus development community and the public sector are delivering transformational projects that are having a long-lasting positive impact on Central Ohio. In recognition of such projects and to acknowledge best practices embodied by ULI’s mission, ULI Columbus is launching a biennial awards program beginning in fall 2017. The program will recognize outstanding development projects (both large and small, and public and private) and honor an individual who has had a significant impact on the built environment in Central Ohio.
This award has been inaugurated to honor an individual who has had a significant impact on the Columbus region’s built environment, who demonstrates a commitment to improving the communities in which we live and work, and who represents the highest standards of responsible, high-quality placemaking and development.
The recipient of the Visionary Award is chosen through a nomination process and selected by the ULI Columbus Governance Committee.
Excellence in Development Award
Two projects are honored in this category—one with total project costs of less than $10 million, and one with total project costs of $10 million or more.
The award recognizes a transformational project that best exemplifies the development process. Winning projects represent the highest standards in the development industry—standards that ULI members deem worthy of attainment in their professional endeavors.
Recipients of the Excellence in Development are selected through an application and jury process. A project team representative can nominate an outstanding development project today for ULI Columbus’s inaugural Awards for Excellence. Applications are open to all, not just ULI members.
Community Impact Award
The award recognizes a public, private, or public/private project, building, program, or initiative that has had a measurable positive impact on a community or the Central Ohio region. Examples include a civic use or space, park, plaza, infrastructure, or other physical development, or a program or initiative that has been underway for at least one year that has resulted in positive changes to the built environment.
One Community Impact Award recipient is selected through an application and jury process. A project team representative can nominate an outstanding public amenity project or program today for ULI Columbus’s inaugural Awards for Excellence. Applications are open to all, not just ULI members.
